The Door County Environmental Council hosted Kristy Senatori and Erin Perry from the Cape Cod Commission on June 4 at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor, WI. Cape Cod, also a peninsular tourist destination, has faced many problems similar to Door County’s experiences, from water quality to affordable housing to over-tourism. Nate is the Ecosystem Scientist at the Savanna Institute in Madison, WI. He discusses the ecological benefits of agroforestry to help solve climate change, water pollution, and biodiversity loss. Bill Davis is the Senior Legal Analyst with the River Alliance of Wisconsin. He discussed PFAS, lakebed, and DNR issues and the River Alliance’s work on water management and agriculture.

Authors P. David Allen and Susan Campbell led an invigorating discussion about the history behind the world’s largest environmental river cleanup of its kind: the $1.3 billion fix for widespread chemical contamination of the Fox River.

Dr. Maureen Muldoon, PhD discussed the hydrogeology of the Silurian dolomite aquifer and how it is affected by surface contamination.
